Description

Our client is looking for one or two Technical Directors to help build and lead their new studio in Poland. This is a senior technical leadership role overseeing one or more projects, guiding lead engineers, and helping shape the engineering team from the ground up. 

Responsibilities

  • Own technical direction for one or more projects and ensure code quality and architecture.
  • Lead and mentor engineering leads and seniors; provide regular, growth-focused feedback.
  • Stay hands-on with complex or critical systems (coding, reviews, debugging, prototyping).
  • Work with department leadership to scope projects and propose staffing plans.
  • Partner with production to keep teams on track with milestones and delivery.
  • Actively support recruitment: interview, assess and select engineers for the Polish studio.
  • Set and maintain technical standards and best practices for Unreal projects.

Requirements

  • 10+ years of experience in game development, including several years in lead engineering roles.
  • Shipped at least one title in a leadership role (AAA preferred)
  • Strong C++ skills and solid understanding of game engine architecture.
  • Professional experience with Unreal Engine.
  • Background as a generalist or rendering/engine programmer.
  • Comfortable combining leadership with hands-on coding.
  • Proven experience collaborating with production on planning and delivery.
  • Experience interviewing and assessing engineers.
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to work with distributed teams.

Nice to have

  • Co-development experience with external partners.
  • Experience with both Unreal Engine and a proprietary/in-house engine.
  • Track record of helping set up or grow studios/engineering teams.
