Data Sources Behind the Report

The Gamedev Salary Pulse 2026 is based on nearly 1,200 survey responses from game development professionals worldwide, collected between October and December 2025.

In addition to survey data, this report incorporates:

  • insights shared within recruitment collaborations throughout 2025,
  • analysis of job postings with publicly available salary ranges and benefits lists,
  • benchmarking against additional industry data sources.

This multi-source approach ensures that the report reflects not only declared perceptions, but also observable market dynamics.

For benchmarking clarity, salary data is presented by region:

  • North America
  • Western Europe
  • Central & Eastern Europe
  • The Nordics

All salary figures are shown as annual gross medians, now displayed in both EUR and USD to support easier global comparison.

What’s Inside the Gamedev Salary Pulse 2026 Edition?

Salaries by Role, Region, and Seniority

We present median salary benchmarks across major departments, including Art, Engineering, Design, Production, QA, Marketing, and more. Thanks to increased participation this year, we were able to expand the number of published categories.

Where dataset size was insufficient, we chose not to publish detailed figures in order to preserve methodological reliability.

Work Models and Geographic Mobility

The report analyzes the distribution of remote, hybrid, and on-site work models and examines how these arrangements correlate with relocation openness and long-term career decisions.

Benefits: What’s Offered vs. What Makes a Difference

We compare employer-provided benefits with the benefits professionals say would make the greatest impact. From PTO and flexible hours to four-day workweeks and health coverage, this section highlights where expectations align and where they diverge.

Layoffs, Job Search Duration, Impact of AI on Gamedev

Beyond compensation, the 2026 edition of the Gamedev Salary Pulse report places stronger emphasis on employment stability and morale. We track:

  • reasons for job loss,
  • duration of active job search,
  • perceived job security,
  • AI-related concerns,
  • and expectations for the next 12 months.

Year-over-year percentage point changes are now explicitly highlighted to support clearer trend analysis. This adjustment was introduced directly in response to community feedback shared after the previous edition.

We genuinely value these suggestions, so if there are additional metrics or comparisons you would like to see in future editions, we encourage you to share your ideas with us (form below).
