We are seeking an experienced and creative Lead Designer to join our team. As Lead Designer you will be at the heart of the creative process, guiding design teams across multiple projects while working closely with Creative Directors to shape and evolve the vision. You’ll be responsible for both leading and inspiring teams and rolling up your sleeves to build compelling gameplay experiences yourself.

This role is ideal for someone who thrives in a hybrid leadership-creative position and is passionate about delivering high-quality, engaging player experiences.

Responsibilities:

Leadership & Team Management

  • Lead multidisciplinary design teams across one or more projects, ensuring alignment with the creative vision and production goals.
  • Mentor and support designers of all levels, fostering a culture of collaboration, innovation, and continuous improvement.
  • Collaborate with production and other department leads to ensure design milestones are met on time and to quality.

Creative Direction & Vision

  • Partner with Creative Directors to define and evolve the creative direction of both new and existing IPs.
  • Translate high-level creative goals into actionable design strategies, systems, and features.
  • Champion the player experience, ensuring gameplay is intuitive, engaging, and aligned with the project’s tone and goals.

Hands-On Design

  • Take ownership of key design areas, such as core gameplay features, systems, or level design, depending on project needs.
  • Prototype and iterate on gameplay mechanics, features, and systems using Unreal Engine or other tools.
  • Provide clear documentation and communication of design intent to cross-functional teams.

Requirements:

  • Proven experience in a senior or lead design role within the games industry.
  • Strong understanding of game design principles, systems design, and player psychology.
  • Experience working on both new IP and established franchises.
  • Excellent communication, leadership, and collaboration skills.
  • Proficiency with Unreal Engine and industry-standard design tools.
  • Passion for creative risk taking, thinking outside the box.

Desirable Skills:

  • Experience working on AAA titles or high-profile projects including multiplayer & single player games.
  • Passion for mentoring and growing design talent
  • Demonstrate commitment to understanding player expectations alongside current developments and technological advancements within the gaming industry.

Application & Portfolio:

Please include your CV, portfolio and cover letter (optional) within your application. If your examples are from previous works with another studio, please make sure samples are cleared for release by copyright owners. Links to an online portfolio are preferable, otherwise we accept showreels via Dropbox or other secure sharing platforms.
