Our client is looking for a Senior Multiplayer Programmer to join their team on-site in Copenhagen. This is a project-based role planned for 1 year, with potential for extension or longer-term collaboration. The selected person will work on a multiplayer game project in Unreal Engine 5, helping shape and refine the core gameplay experience, client/server architecture, gameplay logic, and networking systems.
The role is ideal for someone who enjoys working in a small, collaborative team, takes ownership of technical areas, and can proactively propose improvements. The person should be comfortable working closely with designers, artists, and other programmers to turn gameplay ideas into scalable, functional systems.
Responsibilities
Implement and iterate on multiplayer gameplay systems in Unreal Engine 5 using C++ and Blueprints.
Work closely with designers and artists to translate gameplay ideas into robust technical solutions.
Shape and support the client/server multiplayer architecture, including networking, replication, and authority models.
Develop and refine core gameplay logic and mechanics as part of an iterative vertical slice production process.
Help define the technical direction of the project and propose improvements to systems and workflows.
Ensure stability, scalability, and performance of multiplayer systems.
Support and guide other programmers where needed, sharing knowledge and best practices.
Prototype gameplay and technical ideas quickly to test their potential.
Requirements
5+ years of professional experience in game development.
Experience working on at least one shipped AA or AAA project in Unreal Engine.
Strong hands-on experience with Unreal Engine 5, C++, and Blueprints.
Solid understanding of multiplayer client/server architecture.
Relevant experience with network programming, replication, networking, authority models, and performance considerations.
Excellent communication skills, including the ability to explain technical topics to non-programmers.
Strong collaboration skills and experience working with designers and cross-disciplinary teams.
Nice to Have
Knowledge of procedurality in game development.
Previous experience mentoring or leading other programmers.
Experience and/or interest in developing gameplay mechanics
